Welcome to Great Whispering Pine, Maeck Lake. Great Whispering Pine is a fully winterized, waterfront, Viceroy cottage located in the region of the Almaguin Highlands. It is situated west of South River, in the District of Parry Sound. The cottage is nestled amongst miles of Crown land. Peace and tranquility are yours to enjoy throughout the year.
Whether your pleasure is found water bound or snowbound, Great Whispering Pine offers:
Canoeing, row boating, fishing, paddle boating, kayaking, volleyball, badminton, basketball and horseshoes. There is a sandy, shallow water beach on the property. The lake bottom at the beach is soft to semi-firm. There is a flat rock water entry into deep water. Enjoy campfires under the stars in the evening at the fire pit on the beach. There is a double picnic table, children’s toys and beach chairs at the beachfront. Several lifejackets are provided for both adults and children. A floating dock (in shallow water) is available for fishing perch and small mouth bass. For winter guests, snow machine trails begin at the entrance to the driveway. Grab your snowshoes and go for a hike! Grab a shovel and clear the lake for some skating or ice hockey. Enjoy wintery evenings by the fireplace indoors.
Located nearby: Golf, Downhill Skiing, Winter and Summer Tubing, Horseback Riding, Hockey Opportunity camp. Hikers can enjoy the local Nipissing Trail or Trans Canada trail.
This waterfront cottage is a split level home of approximately 3500 square feet sitting on about 800 feet of shoreline. It boasts a pine finished interior, modern kitchen, fireplace and Jacuzzi tub. There is a master bedroom with king bed, second bedroom with queen bed and a hideaway loft with double futon bed on the main floor. A picturesque family room with fireplace sits adjacent to an oversized kitchen on the main level. There are two cedar decks accessed from the main level. Each deck is equipped with outdoor seating and a BBQ is yours to enjoy off the eastern deck.
The basement contains an additional three bedrooms (two with queen beds) and the third bedroom with double bunk beds. There is a pull out trundle bed in the main family room that sleeps two singles. A large recreation room provides books, videos and children’s toys. Direct waterfront access occurs from this level. There are three bathrooms in the home with shower/bathing facilities. There are ample sleeping accommodations for 2 or 3 families (17 guests) with all the comforts of home.
The cottage is a dream in progress. Solid plywood flooring is found on the main floor while a concrete floor is found in the basement. Area rugs and throw carpets provide coverage for most areas. You will have access to a microwave oven, convection oven, coffee maker, bread machine, toaster, pots/pans, dishes, cutlery, glassware, radio, VCR/DVD, CD player, iPod player, washing machine and dryer. Guests are to bring their own bath and beach towels. Bed linens are provided. All guests are expected to clean the cottage after their stay including laundering of their linens and return the cottage and property in the condition provided at the start of their stay.
For the outdoors guests will find a canoe, rowboat, paddleboat and sit-upon kayaks. There is a nine horsepower bylaw on Maeck Lake. Water skiing can be enjoyed on either Spring Lake or Eagle Lake. Both lakes have boat launching sites. There is a volleyball/badminton area, basketball hoop and horseshoe pit on site. Potable water is supplied by a well system that runs off electricity. There is a septic system for sewage. At the end of their stay, guests drop off their garbage at the dump off the Eagle Lake Road.
Smoking is permitted outdoors. Ash bins are provided. No pets.
